About the scholarship

If you’re an African American, African, or Caribbean writer or illustrator who has a great story and is interested in launching their book on Kickstarter or IndieGoGo, I am offering scholarships for my comprehensive video course, Crowdfunding for Authors.

It is so important for your story to be shared with more people, and crowdfunding your book on Kickstarter or IndieGoGo is a great way to raise awareness and gain readers who will help fund the expenses to bring your creative book to life.

The goal of this scholarship is to help more black authors and illustrators publish high-quality books using crowdfunding as a mechanism and to help lift their voices to more people.

Scholarship includes:

Free access to the Crowdfunding for Authors course + Crowdfunding Vault ($497 value when purchased separately).

Scholarship Review

Scholarship applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and will be approved/rejected based on the merit of the application, the development of your story (you might need more time developing your story first), the potential impact on the community of diverse literature, and the probability of success given your goals and audience size.

This course is designed to help authors learn, improve, and launch successful campaigns.

I want you to succeed and this course is only one aspect of the work ahead of you.

Crowdfunding is not right for everyone and it is highly recommended that you only apply if you are very certain about crowdfunding your book on Kickstarter or IndieGoGo.

*Please note that the scholarship covers the cost of the course and included the resource library only. Any other expenses you incur during the campaign (e.g., graphic design, editing, marketing) are not covered by this scholarship.*

If you are unsure what crowdfunding is or if it is right for you, I suggest you enroll in my free mini-course here prior to applying for the comprehensive course.
